Jasper County Detention Center Overview
Jasper County Detention Center is operated by Jasper County detention staff under the local public-safety structure connected with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Chris Malphrus is identified on the county sheriff page, and the same public-safety complex is used for sheriff operations, detention, and centralized bond court. The jail handles local arrest custody, first appearance routing, pretrial detention, short local sentences, and holds or transfers when another agency has an interest in the person.
The official county detention page lists the facility in Ridgeland and gives the public mailing address used for inmate mail. County research did not locate a published construction history, unit list, accreditation statement, or rated bed capacity on the county pages inspected. That matters because a roster count is not the same as capacity. The roster is a current public custody channel, while capacity and average daily population would require an official county report or public-records request.
The official Jasper County Detention Center page is the source for the facility identity and detention navigation. The screenshot below shows the county page used for facility matching.
Use that county page for the facility source, then use the inmate inquiry app for the active jail roster and JCSO records for copies that are not shown online.
Jasper County Detention Center Population
The public roster source for Jasper County Detention Center is the county ArcGIS Prisoner Data table. A current-count query run against records where InmateInJail='Y' returned 112 records on June 29, 2026. That figure should be read as a public roster-derived current count on that inspection date. It is not an audited average daily population, an annual booking total, or a rated capacity statement.
Jasper County Detention Center should not be combined with Ridgeland Correctional Institution when counting local jail custody. The county jail roster tracks local detention. Ridgeland Correctional Institution is a state prison operated by SCDC for sentenced male prisoners. If a person has moved from Jasper County jail custody to state prison custody, the county roster may stop being the controlling lookup.
Jasper County Detention Center Lookup
Current Jasper County Detention Center inmates are searched through the Jasper County Inmate Inquiry System, an ArcGIS Experience titled Prisoner Data. The app help text says the search widget can search by first, middle, last, and suffix. Selecting a person in the table populates image, name, and overall information panels. For a broader roster explanation, the Jasper County inmate records page explains the public fields and access channels.
- Open the county inmate inquiry app and start with the last name, since the public table display field is LastName.
- Use fewer name parts if the first search fails. Middle names and suffixes may not be entered the way a caller expects.
- Select the table row to populate the image, inmate name, and overall information panels.
- Check the current custody flag. The public schema includes
InmateInJail, release-related fields, agency fields, and offense fields when populated. - If the person is missing, call the jail information line, check SCDC for sentenced state custody, or use JCSO FOIA for an older booking record.
The county table does not expose every field people often expect. Bond amount, court date, judge, warrant number, exact housing unit, and release reason were not captured in the public schema. Bond and case status should be confirmed through bond court, the South Carolina Judicial Branch case search, or the Clerk of Court.
Jasper County Detention Center Contact
Use the jail information line for current custody, inmate number, and facility service questions. Use bond court for first appearance and bond hearing questions. Use the sheriff records workflow for copies of arrest, booking, or incident records that are not visible in the public app. Do not treat a missing online result as proof that no arrest or record exists.

Jasper County Detention Center Bond
Jasper County has a centralized bond court at the detention center. The county bond court page says all bond hearings are held there, that a bond court judge is on call at all times, and that magistrates can set bond for criminal matters except murder and burglary first degree. The published judge office hours are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with weekend bond court windows from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
| Bond Topic | Jasper County Detail |
|---|---|

| Phone | 843-726-7737 |
| Local limit | Magistrates do not set bond for murder or burglary first degree. |

A bond order does not always mean immediate release. Other warrants, detainers, probation issues, federal holds, or paperwork may delay release even when a local bond has been addressed.
Jasper County Detention Center Visits
The current county pages inspected did not publish a full Jasper County Detention Center visitation schedule, dress code, visitor ID rule, or video visitation schedule. The detention inmate-information page does reference visitation days and visitation hours for accepting lobby money orders, so visitation exists, but the schedule itself should be confirmed with the facility before travel.

Jasper County Detention Center Records
When the roster does not answer the question, law-enforcement records requests use the JCSO records process. The county records page says the completed FOIA form and a state ID must be emailed to SheriffDiscovery@jaspercountysc.gov, and that using another address can delay the request. For records 24 months old or newer, the page states the agency has 10 business days to notify the requester of availability and an additional 30 calendar days to provide the record after the response.
Fees are also documented by the county. The JCSO page lists staff time for search, retrieval, redaction, and electronic transfer at $15.00 per hour, with payment due before release. The countywide FOIA page lists copies at $0.50 per page, compact disks of recordings at $8.00 per CD, research or preparation time at $16.00 per hour for staff below department head level, and a possible 25 percent deposit.
